Taylor Trepinski started working for Agape Development as a Frontline Ministry Associate in June of 2015. The first few months of his employment, he gained experience by working all of Agape’s programs. In the last couple months, he has begun specializing in particular programs that Agape offers. His specialization includes the responsibility to disciple three men in the neighborhood. Taylor decided to focus his discipleship on individuals that he had already been building relationships with. He thought of Dave, his roommate at the Gateway house. They had already developed a friendship and enjoyed one another’s company. However, when Taylor invited Dave to meet regularly to talk about God and scripture, Dave’s response was surprisingly uncertain. “Let’s try it out for one week. If I’m enjoying it, then we can continue.” Taylor began to take Dave out for dinner in addition to spending more intentional time getting
to know him at the house. During these dinners, Taylor would ask Dave about his spiritual life. Dave was not so interested in discussing emotional topics, instead wanting to discuss theological matters such as the authority
and trustworthiness of Scripture. Taylor was faithful by taking this cue from Dave and discussed his deep questions. His flexibility built trust with Dave; now they’ve been meeting for about a month. Recently, Taylor has been
very encouraged because Dave has been initiating their time together; he is the one calling Taylor and asking if they can hang out! Praise God that Dave enjoyed it enough to continue!
