On Wednesday, June 30th, Agape Development Ministries took a group of young people from the neighborhood to the community fire-station to meet the firefighters and receive a tour of their station.

14 children from the neighborhood joined Agape staff and volunteers and made the short trip to the community’s fire-station. Firefighters greeted the children as they arrived and showed them the various vehicles they use. They allowed the children to explore the inside of the firetrucks. They opened all its compartments and explained the equipment kept in them. They dressed up a volunteer in the suits they wear to respond to a fire, and they allowed the children to try on air-tanks and they helped the children take turns lifting up the “jaws of life” machinery they use to open crumpled cars (It weighed 75 pounds!).

They showed the children their living accommodations and told them about their shifts. They told the children, on their way out, to study hard and come back and work there as firemen.

Agape has planned outings for each Wednesday during the summer. If you’re available and interested in participating as a volunteer chaperone, please contact us! We need as much help with transportation and supervision as we can accrue.
