#HoustonStrong is the message we continue to hear, even as the waters are still receding in some neighborhoods. Agape Development’s target neighborhood is doing very well after the flood and most of our neighbors are back to work. Thanks to you, the following happened!
You provided for food and water to be delivered to families during the storm and grocery shortages
You helped bridge the financial gap for moms and dads who lost a week of work and wages.
You helped a neighborhood family recover their water damaged home.
You can keep helping–
We are receiving requests to help uninsured or under-insured low-income homeowners across the city muck out and subsequently rebuild their homes. We see this as an opportunity for our repair team to meet a need. The Agape Property Repair Team trains, employs, and disciples ex-offenders from our community. These brothers in Christ are growing in their faith and providing for their families. For as long as we have funding and capacity, we will redirect the Agape Property Repair Team to assist with Harvey relief, recovery, and development. We will leverage any funds we receive by incorporating volunteers, donated supplies, and other assistance programs. We tackled the remediation of one 1250 sq ft home which required about 200 labor hours to complete. Some companies are charging $7,500 for mucking out a home like this, and we’d like to alleviate the cost for families in financial need.
