“LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”
Backyard Bible Club has come a long way from its inception in 2009. This program has bounced around from the backyard of Agape’s office duplex on Perry Street, to a house a few streets down on Kingsbury St, and now to our new location on Calhoun Rd. It began meeting in a living room space (that also doubled as office space) then grew to have a playground in the backyard, a basketball goal, and bedrooms turned into classrooms. Now we have a paved space for basketball, an open green space for activity, and plenty of space for homework time. The Lord has truly blessed Backyard Bible Club with safe spaces for children to learn, play, and hear of His love for them.
Even more praiseworthy than the spaces we’ve inhabited over the years are the faces Agape has grown to know and love. For a neighborhood filled with families in transition, it is remarkable that many familiar faces attend Backyard Bible Club each week. May God continue to bless these relationships. We are thankful for each moment.
