  1. Libby Davis says:

My name is Libby Davis. I am Thomas Davis’ mom. Thomas went to Second Baptist with you, and I knew your mom. I am retired from Texas public schools, and have spent the last year in Vail,Colorado teaching art at Vail Christian Academy. Thomas and his wife, Jessica, are expecting their first baby in June, and I am planning to move back to Houston when school here is over May 26th. I have twenty-eight years experience of teaching inter-city students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I am certified in Early Childhood Education, ESL, and Special Education. I have training from the Neuhaus Center in Houston in Reading Intervention, which I taught for two years with HISD. I have been a member of Bethel Church in the past, and intend to continue attending there when I return to Houston. I also started work on a Master’s in counseling degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary many years ago,and continued work on that off and on over the past ten years. I applied to Dallas Theological Seminary in 2015 when I felt the Lord calling me to take the job at Vail Christian Academy when Thomas and Jessica had a destination wedding here last May. Thomas’ dad and I had lived in Vail forty years ago!
I would like to talk to you about a part time position with the school. My favorite teaching positions were in the fourth ward when I was with HISD. I learned about your school from information at Bethel. I found that retirement was very dull, and knew immediately that working with children was what I missed. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching art in Vail, but want to be back in Texas with my children and grandchildren. I have always had the greatest respect for you, Kirk, and know that your school is a wonderful Christian establishment. I hope that Amanda and your children are well, and your parents, also.
