Agape had another opportunity to bring a great group to Carolina Creek in October, with the most participants we’ve had so far! If removing ourselves from the hustle and bustle of daily life wasn’t enough to enjoy the weekend, the bonus of having fall-like temperatures did the trick. Folks enjoyed the basketball, the zip line, board games, and rock climbing. The zip line, which always looks less scary from the ground, seemed to have daunted another challenger as first time participant Ketric climbed the tower only to return to the ground. But through the encouragement of other participants Ketric mustered up the courage to take the plunge with three other people who were led by the “soldier” chants of David!
The weekend was marked by honest reflection and dialogue about what it means to have vision for one’s life and how to walk in that vision and in the freedom of receiving the Father’s love. Kirk talked about how none of that is possible without the daily surrender of going through the cross and embracing one’s need. The message of the gospel was clearly relayed. Subsequently, the message caused many to take a raw and honest look at their lives. Several participants responded to the Holy Spirit’s movement and conviction by submitting their lives to Jesus. These young adults are making significant steps of growth, and we are very thankful for the opportunity that our retreats provide for them to encounter God’s love.
