On June 16, 2010, Agape staff, volunteers, and current Gateway House residents took a group of 12 children from the Gateway House neighborhood to tour Houston’s ship channel. The group took a tour of the channel on a boat that Wednesday afternoon.
The children enjoyed the ride, and several of them commented that they had never been on a boat before. They were amazed by the enormous freighters, the tugboats, the mineral deposits and enclosures, the piles of sorted garbage and crushed cars in the landfill, the chemical plants, and the cranes lifting and dropping various things.
Agape has planned weekly youth outings on Wednesday mornings and afternoons throughout the summer. Feel free to contact us if you’re available and interested in helping with transportation or supervision.
